Regulations EC261 / UK261
TAP Air Portugal is the flag carrier airline of Portugal. There are two regulations that apply to most TAP flights – EC261, also known as the European flight compensation regulation, and the Regulation UK261 (its UK counterpart). Every time your TAP flight is delayed for 3+ hours, cancelled last minute or overbooked, you may be entitled to EU flight compensation. Don’t forget to file a claim!

Every time TAP flight arrives to its destination 3+ hours late, you may be entitled to EU flight delay compensation. As long as it’s due to airline’s fault, you may receive up to 600 euro. For example, staff shortage, technical problems with an airplane, and staff strikes are considered airline’ s fault (you can get compensation from TAP).

Every time an airline from Europe (EU, EEA, UK) cancels a flight, it must offer you a full refund, or an alternative flight. You have a right to be given a choice between the two. With TAP, it applies to all their flights both departing from and arriving to Europe. In some cases, you may also have a right to EU flight cancellation compensation.
